Guitar Hero World Tour - Top tips on playing the drums
The Guitar Hero series has definitely introduced changes upon the
release of its latest installment, Guitar Hero World Tour. While the
original guitar controller is present, new features such as vocals, bass
guitar and drums are included, so as players can form their own rock
group and set the stage on fire. And since the drums are a new addition
to the controllers, it would take time for rabid players to adjust and
play the percussions naturally just like they did the first they laid
their hands of the guitar controller. To help them out, here are some
effective tips and tricks on using the drums:
Keep yourself hydrated during the game. Playing the percussions in
Guitar Hero World Tour may not be the same as playing a real drum set
(even not as close as the digital one), yet the adrenaline rush is the
same. Expect to lose a lot of sweat while playing the songs on your gig
list. You will encounter a lot more difficult notes that need repeated
drumming and frequent pedals, hence you need more energy.

Do some warm up stretching. Before playing your piece, it is good that
you do some stretching and bending first since you will be heading for a
repetitive activity as your sit and play the song. Avoid shocking your
muscles because it may cause you cramps.
Sit on the right chair. Since drumming involves a lot of sitting, it is
important that you get to sit on the right kind of chair. Get a chair
that's tall enough for your height, which as well gives you comfort
while on the game. Use your leg as a guideline in measuring the right
chair-your legs should bend at a 90-degree angle while you are seated.
Know how to hold the sticks. If you're already a veteran drummer, then
you should know how to hold the sticks properly. You can apply the same
method in Guitar Hero World Tour. But if you are just a newbie, then you
can use this method in holding the drum sticks:
- Hold the drum stick on your fist, then support the top half by
the use of your thumb pressed on it.
- Your fist must not be tight, so you can have enough space to
move the sticks while you play.
- Curl your lower three fingers around the stick to prevent it
from flying or slipping out of your hands.
- Do not tighten the shoulders or wrists; your elbows should hang
by your sides so you can move freely while drumming.
If you are tired of using that method, then try experimenting on
other styles so you can find the position in which you are most
comfortable with. Just remember not to hurt your wrists.
Make sure you can reach the drums. Another effective tip in playing
the drums is by being able to reach for all the parts of the drum
set. You should not stretch your arms or hold them back, hence the
drum set should be close to you.
